Women in satin shoes. Men in Zegna suits. What else is there?
Historical note: This Jagger-Richards song was U.S. national anthem briefly–for two months in 1996–and very popular with hard-working, hard-playing Boomers. The advent of the Work-Life Balance Era later that year made the song all but forgotten in favor of Techno tunes and a resurgence of The Carpenters’ music to accompany the reading of books on getting in touch with one’s inner mediocrity.
It is still played at some Boomer wakes and funerals–but is considered “outlaw” music.
