Dan Hull represents publicly traded corporations, company executives, and public figures in the U.S. and abroad. Both highly-sought trial counsel and storied problem-solver, Dan has worked in nearly every American jurisdiction as well as throughout Europe, especially England, Wales, Austria, Germany, France and Italy. Widely travelled, he’s built an enduring network of aggressive, higher-end professionals and firms all over the globe.

Raised in Maryland, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio, Dan attended Highland Park, IL, and Indian Hill, OH, public schools. At Indian Hill, he played basketball and tennis, edited the newspaper, and served as senior class president. At Duke, he was an associate editor of The Chronicle, Duke’s daily, where he co-founded a weekly magazine, wrote features, and covered the civil rights beat. Duke’s student government chose Dan to serve as one of the first student members of Duke’s Board of Trustees. At the University of Cincinnati’s College of Law, he was an editor of the Law Review, and awarded a Reginald Heber Smith fellowship.

For 3 years, Dan worked on Capitol Hill as an aide to a U.S. Senator (D-WI) and to a U.S. Representative (R-OH). He became an associate and later a partner in the D.C. office of an American law firm. In 1996, with Julie McGuire, ALCOA inhouse legend and corporate tax standout, he founded Hull McGuire with 3 U.S. offices. As mainstays in the Salzburg-based International Business Law Consortium, Dan and Julie were featured players at conferences in England, Wales, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Argentina, Mexico, and Canada.

Dan has been a member and frequent panelist at the respected Charleston, S.C. idea-fest Renaissance Weekend since 2004. Other affiliations: 1 Night/1 Person, National Eagle Scout Assn., Tara Society, Wes Clark for President, Hillary Clinton for President.

For 25 years, Dan’s held Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer rating of AV-Preeminent. He’s taught discovery and Congressional lobbying in about 40 U.S. states or jurisdictions.

His lawyering has been covered by the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, L.A. Times, Reuters, Associated Press, Newsweek, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, VICE, and POLITICO.

Dan’s own writing has earned acclaim for decades. Since his early 20’s, he’s published scores of features or opinion pieces for mainstream news outlets in the U.S. and Europe. Since 2005, he’s written a popular award-winning blog on doing business and lawyering globally, the Arts, great books, great women, and real life called What About Paris?
