It’s not just Bill Clinton, ahem, Rand Paul. Lots of heads of state have had extra-curricular romantic lives, and France’s past presidents seem to top the list. But in the case of current French Francois Hollande, 59, who would have thought? It’s not like he’s Robert Redford or George Clooney, or has the kind of personality that melts women instantly. He’s 5’7, not particularly exciting, a Socialist and, looks-wise, about two clicks away from Ned Beatty. But to his credit Hollande has a thing for strong, talented, attractive and, incidently increasingly younger women. Both Ségolène Royal (now 60), a fellow politician and his partner of 30 years, and Valérie Trierweiler (48), a journalist First Lady with whom he broke with last week after 6 years, are impressive in their own right.
