Be careful what you wish for.
Recently, on Richard Lewis Communication’s blog, Cross-Culture, Jacques Méon addressed why it took 50 years for the Democratic Party of Japan to wrestle power from the Liberal Democratic Party in Japan ““ why did it take them so long?.
The answer is partly historical but also cultural.
. . . The LDP was seen as having played an important role in Japan’s overall economic success of the 60s, 70s and 80s and was therefore able to gain a high level of loyalty . . . . Culturally, the Japanese are usually very cautious people and are reluctant to change.
Nevertheless, the Democratic Party of Japan has a tough road ahead, and maybe this time it won’t take a half-century for Japan to change its mind.
